Health Care Enrollment Resources

There are now more options for health insurance coverage in Minnesota: public health insurance options have been improved and simplified, and new tax credits can bring down the cost of buying private insurance. But making health care decisions can be complex, and many members of our communities may want help understanding their options and in enrolling in insurance through MNsure, the state's health insurance marketplace. Nonprofits can play a vital role in connecting Minnesotans to health insurance.

There are two resources members of our community can use to understand the options available to them: MNsure and Navigators.

  • MNsure is an online marketplace where individuals can shop for, compare and enroll in public and private health insurance options. Minnesotans are not required to get health insurance through MNsure; however, MNsure is the only way to access federal tax credits to reduce the cost of premiums.
  • Navigators are trained people, many of them located at nonprofit organizations throughout Minnesota, who can help Minnesotans navigate MNsure and learn about the health insurance options available to them, including public health insurance options and federal premium tax credits.
